The Pageant opens this week!

Hello Everybody!
So, it feels kind of strange writing home this week because I just saw my family at church and they will be in Nauvoo all week long, but I thought I would still write home about the wonders that occurred this week. Family, it's great to have you here in Nauvoo family, even though when I see you, I can't stay and chat long!
Updates: We had Pageant rehearsal this week, and dress rehearsal is on Monday, then we start performances on Tuesday! Oh my gosh, the pageant is AMAZING! I love watching the family casts and working with them. The church is so true! This week, Elder Johnson tried to teach Sister Aramaki and I how to beat box. Also, Elder Fairbourne fell down the stairs this week coming off the stage during High Hopes and Riverboats. Don't worry, he was totally fine, so it was just really funny. Especially because everyone off stage could laugh, but Elder Black and I, being on stage, had to try with every fiber of our being not to burst out laughing and hold a straight face. Well, change in subject...
My heart has been full this last week. Monday was the commemoration of the martyrdom of the prophet Joseph Smith. It was a crazy busy day as we did our shows, and cut out one of our High Hopes and River Boats shows for that day, so we could drive to Carthage for the commemoration that they do there. We sang "No Ordinary Brothers" there. We also sang "Nauvoo" at the Community of Christ commemoration. The martyrdom scene on Monday in High Hopes and Riverboats had never felt so real to before. I know Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. He restored the true gospel to the earth, and sealed his testimony with his blood. I am so grateful for his love and his sacrifice. I have known for a while that he is a true prophet, but I feel like I have grown to love him as a person and a friend so much since I have been here. I have also grown to know that there are angels who help us every day here in Nauvoo as we serve. They lift us up and are blessings in our lives. Well, I love you all! Have a wonderful week! Hurrah for Israel!
Sincerely yours,
Sister Paulsen

The most beautiful sunsets are in Nauvoo!

On June 24, 1844, Joseph Smith, with his brother Hyrum, left Nauvoo for Carthage on what would be their final ride.  They were required to appear in court to answer charges for "causing a riot." This statue depicts the brothers beginning that fateful journey.  Not far from this location by the temple, Joseph turned and said, "This is the loveliest place and the best people under the heavens; little do they know the trails that await them."

Sometimes we ride our bikes and we can ride pretty fast...as long as you don't get them caught in your spokes...:)

Sister Frisby and I made some great desserts for the YPM's potlucks together!

We gather the kids together and have a children's parade just before "Sunset on the Mississippi" starts.

These are treats and my green backpack that I really needed! My wonderful mom sent them to me this past week!  Thank you Mom!

This is the outdoor stage at our morning rehearsal for the Nauvoo Pageant that opened this week.
You can see the Nauvoo Temple in the background.
We rehearsed every morning learning all the dances.
